I have tried several methods of recording. Audacity to WAV and MP3? I get hissing. Braille Sense to MP3? I get hissing. Stream converted to MP3 by HumanWare Companion? Hissing. Sound Recorder as you recommended, in WMA format because that's all I'm allowed to do, it looks like? More and more and more hissing! How the heck am I supposed to record a good quality audio profile if all I get is hissing?! What am I doing wrong? Help!
P.S.: After searching the boards for similar topics, I realize this should probably have been posted under Q&A, which I forgot about. Sorry about that!
By hissing, do you mean hissing in the actual file, or hissing when you upload it? And are you talking about that loud abnoxious hiss that happens when you click on some audio profiles? or just a hiss in the background?
My appologies. I read your post a second time, which pretty much answered the question about whether it was a background hiss or not. My earlier questions still stand, though.
My Firefox can't PLAY sound profiles. It's odd.
Hello you two,
To answer Miss M's comment, I'm using IE because once Firefox got to Version 9 it didn't play any of the audio on here. You might use IE on here and see if that helps, as the Quicktime plugin doesn't seem to work with later versions of Firefox.
At Jess: It's definitely that static noise after uploading. Has it ever happened to you?
No, it hasn't. But your's is far from the first upload to have this problem. I honestly have no idea what's causing it. You'd think with so many profiles I've heard with that abnoxious hiss, others would have complained by now, but I guess not. I've always uploaded my profiles as 92 KB/S mp3 files. the quality isn't the best, I know, but larger files than that have always failed to upload for me. I've used a variety of programs to record, so I doubt that's the issue. Besides, if you've listened to the files before hand, and they sound fine, I would guess it's most likely some sort of an issue with the upload. Hopefully one of the staff members can put their finger on it. If it's a user related error, that's fine. We just want to know what it is!
That's what I'm thinking. And you wouldthink that if any higher than 92KBPS were too high the file size would also be too big and the upload would ultimately be denied. On the upload page it says if you encounter the static try a different encoder, which is why I've mentionedthe various programs I've used because I'm sure they probably have at least a few different encoders. My mind is blowen lol.
I come across the same things when recording it on a mic, or that it would not upload. so.... yeah, same here,
Well poo! :P
